Happy autumn! At Prosperity Denver Fund, we’re excited to kick off what we like to call the Fall Distribution Cycle!
As Denver’s sales tax- funder for college scholarships, workforce credentials and apprenticeships, and high school programs, we’re thrilled to share that it looks like we will be breaking another record with this fall being the largest distribution of funds to support Denver students in our history!
The loudest message I hear in submitted applications we’re receiving is this: Denver is one of the best places in the country to be 18-years-old. We have so many outstanding organizations working with thousands of students to help them launch successful futures.
One reason we have such a strong ecosystem of nonprofit organizations working with Denver students is the generosity of our community. Prosperity Denver Fund recently engaged Keating Research to find out how Denver residents feel about supporting our young people. Here are a few highlights:
81% believe it is hard for Denver students to afford college and career training
89% believe it is hard for Denver high school graduates to earn enough to live in Denver
89% believe it is important to have programs that help students with education and career supports after high school
73% believe it is important for taxpayers to invest in helping low- and middle-income Denver students
This is why we have so many organizations—from Denver Scholarship Foundation to CrossPurpose to Colorado UpLift and over 100 more—doing amazing work in our community. You can find a list of the organizations on our website that we’ve funded so far.
Since we’re deep in the heart of Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 – Oct. 15), I also want to express my gratitude for the outstanding work of some of our partners who support Latino students, including Latin American Educational Foundation, Latinas First, Servicios de la Raza, Mi Casa Resource Center, and TheDream.US, among many others! You’re making a difference in the futures of so many young people.
